Wesak Reflection Activity
Visualize Receiving Illumination - Reflection for Activities

Now that the magical process has been followed, let’s retrace our steps by visualizing yourself traveling up the beacon of light in a meditative state, seated in front of the Buddha and being open to receive light.
Catch the Illumination by imagining the Buddha sending light into your third-eye.
As you receive the Illumination it’s a good time to reflect on the seed thoughts you worked with during the Easter Festival to receive Revelation on. Let’s say you asked for a personal revelation to guide you through the next solar cycle (year.)
Take this through the steps of the Eightfold Noble Path and picture yourself receiving illumination for what truly needs to be done to take each of the steps. This is a good time to take out a journal and ask yourself questions to help deposit the Illuminations in your consciousness. Feel free to personally address the Buddha, he won’t suffer.

Right Values
-
Hey Buddha - What are the values I need to hold true for this next year?
-
Write down what comes to mind, just go as quickly as possible to start with whatever comes through, you can always review and refine them
-
-
-
Right Speech
-
Say Buddha - How can I use my spoken words to align with these values?
-
Are there any words or statements I tend to make that I should work on no longer be making?
-
If you would like peace and stability, perhaps stop stating that so much is “crazy” in the worl.
-
-
-
Right Mode of Living
-
Buddha - Are there any aspects of how I live my life that are not aligned with the illumined values I received?
-
How could I change those?
-
-
What aspects of my life are nicely aligned with these values?
-
And how could I incorporate more of this into my life?
-
-
-
Right Thinking
-
List the thoughts that cross your mind that are counter to the value(s) you seek to nurture this year
-
You can review this list every morning, to help remind you of the right thinking, and actually achieve right thinking in the review
-
-
What thoughts are maybe not so right thinking regarding your values?
-
Now here’s a key, how can you Illuminate these thoughts throughout your day, as they arise, before they dominate your reactions, and thought life?
-
You want to notice them as they arise and get ahead of them.
-
You might find that a right thought from your list can be employed to counterbalance a not so right thought
-
-
-
-
Right Aspiration
-
Aspirations tend to be longer terms goals and our actions today, our choices, work towards those goals.
-
What are the things I am aspiring for today?
-
Given the value(s) I have illumined, what additional aspirations might I have?
-
-
Right Conduct
-
With my aspirations that are aligned with my values for this year, how much of my time is invested in working towards these aspirations versus other aspirations I may have?
-
Should I make any adjustments in how I conduct myself to better align with my values, and what might they be?
-
-
Right Effort
-
How much time am I investing in my right conduct that is aligned with right aspiration, daily, weekly, monthly?
-
Identify a series of steps you can take on a regular basis and bring them over into your evening review, as a reminder to action them throughout the days, weeks, month
-
-
Are there activities I am heavily investing in that do not align with my right conduct?
-
How could I reduce the time spent here, in favor of right effort and still accomplish my responsibilities to my family, friends and community?
-
-
-
Right Rapture or True Happiness
-
Where do I find happiness in my life?
-
List all of the things that make you feel happy
-
Throughout the day add to the list
-
-
Now go back through the list and identify the things that make you happy that are aligned with all of the 7 previous steps of the Eightfold Noble Path
-
Connect deeper into the feelings associated with those things and ask for Illumination to continue to stream through into those events as they happen in your life
-
You want to be illumined on a regular basis as to what True Happiness is
-
This creates a virtuous cycle where you will naturally orient your life to align with the path
-
-
-
-
These activities work like a choose your own adventure story - and your life is the story. It’s your choice for Resurrection - for Renewal – for Rebirth or for Revelation, each purpose with intention can be taken through the Eightfold Noble Path of the Buddha. Each choice, open for Illumination.
I must admit, sometimes it can be challenging to incorporate this practice into your daily flow. The world has been moving so fast recently, often times the things we need to do just to take care of our homes take all the energy we may have, and adding a regular practice of following the Eightfold Noble Path can feel like – just one more thing I’ve gotta do.
Start small, start simple, make it easy to hack it into your life as it is. And remember, this process will empower you with the Will of God. You are supported with Light, and Love, and Power from on-high. Believe in yourself.
May we all take the illuminated steps to improve life with this knowledge!
